You've reached railvolutiondc.com, the Local Host Committee's website for the 2011 edition of Rail~Volution. This website will specifically focus on the local program elements of the 2011 conference.  If you are looking for the national Rail~Volution website, please visit www.railvolution.org.

Where can I RSVP for the Local Program? 
You can RSVP for the three local program sessions at the local program page.  The local program sessions occur on October 19 from 2-5 pm and are distinct from the rest of the conference.  Registration for the full Rail~Volution conference is handled by the national organization and is available here. 
How can I follow the 2011 Rail~Volution Conference? 
Follow the conference on Twitter, using the hashtag #RV11. If you're joining us in DC, please feel free to live tweet along!  Just use #RV11. 
What is Rail~Volution?
Started by leaders with a vision for using transit to promote smarter growth, Rail~Volution is now the nation’s premier conference on livable communities. This October, 1,500 elected officials, planners, developers and advocates will convene at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC to take the vision of vibrant communities to the next level. Rail~Volution features in-depth explorations of issues facing every community and inspiring sessions that showcase the best livability minds in the country. 

Why bring Rail~Volution to Washington?
Our region is constantly striving to create a balanced, integrated transportation system and well-connected neighborhoods.  Rail~Volution is the perfect chance to showcase our efforts on a national stage. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness locally about the relationship between land use and transit, and increase local support for transit and livability projects around the region. 

How can we shape Rail~Volution 2011?
You can join the Regional Host Committee in planning exciting conference elements, including:
  • Welcome Reception -- chance to engage conference attendees, elected officials and decision-makers from around the nation.
  • Mobile Workshops -- Informative and fun tours showcasing the region’s renowned transit-oriented communities and transit projects.
  • Scholarships -- An effort to engage local advocates and officials in the exchange of ideas and build local support for stronger communities around transit.
  • TOD Marketplace -- A forum matching local developers with transit-oriented development opportunities.
